Bass Rock, North Berwick
We spent three days in East Lothian on our trip to the UK in 2026. One of the things I particularly wanted to do was visit the Bass Rock Gannet Colony. We took a boat trip from the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick, which included Craigleith and Bass Rock. Plenty of gannets from this colony could be seen at Dunbar Harbour.

The Island of Westray on Orkney boasts one of the UK’s great gannet colonies at Noup Head and we spent time there during our visit to Orkney in May-June 2026.
